Production Network Engineer (Sr) - Port St. Lucie, FL

Critical Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

·         Configuration and maintenance of DNS and related systems.
·         Installation and maintenance of Ethernet distribution systems.
·         Provide IT mentoring and escalated trouble resolution for a wide range server and network hardware located around the world.
·         Strong working knowledge in a broad scope of network security technologies such as AV, IPS, IDS, penetration testing, and firewalls from multiple leading vendors.
·         Ability to design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot complex global WANs using VPNs, MPLS, Bonded T1s, Bonded E1’s, Merto-E and other technologies.
·         Ability to design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot complex LAN topologies using Cisco, Foundry and HP switches and routers.
·         Diverse working knowledge with SAN and iSCSI devices and configurations.
·         Working knowledge of SQL
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain existing and install future production computer and network systems at Globe Wireless operating locations worldwide.
                                   
  • Participate in insuring the operation of multiple critical 24 X 7 NOCs including equipment, LANs and global WAN interconnecting multiple sites, with both Internet and Intranet interconnectivity.
  • Participate in network performance troubleshooting & problem resolution.
  •   Interact with Operations, Production Support and Customer Support to answer customer questions and resolve customer network issues.
  • Provide computer/network support relating to software and hardware failure.
  • Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating system, both Windows and UNIX, and associated application software to provide high levels of support to the Operations department
  • Consult with the development IT team on efficient application deployment strategies and system optimization.
  • Monitor and evaluate efficiency of software/hardware usage.  Install new or updated software applications on production systems.
  • Assist in installation of telephone and related telco WAN facilities.
  • Recommend, define and install improved network solutions
 
Education, Experience, and Job Knowledge
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
  • 10 plus years experience in IT disciplines.
  • 5 plus years experience as a Senior Network Engineer in a commercial environment.
  • Vendor specific certifications a plus.
  • Education in Network Management
  • Experience with zero downtime facilities and techniques
  • Experience with Unix and Windows operating systems
  • Experience in building and installing a major Network Operating Center
