Software Engineer
Developer wanted to design, code and maintain communications systems responsible for processing email and controlling communications equipment. The communications equipment operates over satellite systems utilizing IP and Asynchronous technologies. Distributed architecture utilizes centralized database for process and data storage. Experience in design and development in a real time environment strong desired.
Critical Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong skills in C, C++, and SQL required;
- Advanced working knowledge of Sybase, Postgres highly desired.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows environments desired.
- Working knowledge of stored procedures;
- Data analyst skills;
- The ability to transfer product definitions into working programs;
- Maintaining systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects;
- Creating technical specifications and test plans;
- Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Education, Experience, and Job Knowledge
- BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
- 5 plus years experience as a software developer in a commercial environment.
- Prior experience with high volume data transactions on enterprise systems.
- Experience with large real time database systems which include Sybase, Oracle and DB2.
- The ability to do SQL query tuning is a plus.
- Working knowledge of .Net, Java a plus
