Globe i4

The Globe i4 system acts as a Communications Gateway to all shipboard communications systems, including VSAT, Inmarsat (B, Fleet, Fleet Broadband), Iridium OpenPort or GSM/GPRS/UMTS.

All functions of the Globe i4 can be fully configured from a shore web portal, and the system automatically synchronizes connection with the shipboard system. If permitted, administrative users on the ship may also configure the Globe i4 system.

The system offers user-based access control. Shipboard users can be permitted or restricted from accessing the email and the web. All user controls are fully configured from shore by customer IT staff.

The Globe i4 is a full offline email server. User email is downloaded using a highly efficient satellite optimized protocol and is stored locally on the ship. The optimized protocol ensures that if the VSAT is not available for any reason email can still be retrieved using traditional satellite systems (Inmarsat, Iridium) and costs will remain in control.

Globe GCC

The Globe Communications Center (GCC) system is the latest innovation in integrated communications for ships at sea, providing a more affordable means of communication. GCC brings together the ease and efficiency of computers with the reliability and affordability of digital high frequency radio and satellite technologies.

The fully automated GCC messaging system enables ships at sea anywhere in the world to send and receive electronic mail (e-mail), faxes, telex messages, and telegrams through the digital Global Maritime Data Network of high frequency coastal radio stations serving as network nodes and via satellite connections.

Unlike other shipboard communications systems, GCC provides two different connections to shore: Digital HF and Satellite.

GCC provides an automated message transmission system, taking advantage of the low cost of digital HF radio technology, while allowing faster/larger message and data file transfers by satellite. You have the option to automatically decide the least-cost, effective way to send a message by taking into account the size of the message, urgency of the message, whether the message can be sent in a timely fashion via HF radio, and the peak/off peak satellite transmission times. GCC connections are always available regardless of time zone or location.

Globe Archive

Complete monthly messages to-and-from your fleet can now be provided on one CD or DVD. With a GlobeArchive subscription, each month Globe Wireless will send you a CD that includes all of the previous months' archived emails sent to and from your ships. All of your ship's messages are now impeccably organized and safely maintained. A year's worth of records can now fit in your hand, rather than several filing cabinets.

Globe Wireless operates the only network in the industry that retains archives of message traffic, and we are passing this advantage on to our customers. Other email services are simply "pass-through" only, with no means of infrastructure to store messages.

Globe Weather

GlobeWeather allows your vessels to download cost effective colour weather forecast charts on demand. Three, Five, and Ten day forecasts are available and provide key weather data including: surface pressure, wind speed & direction, fronts, sea surface temperature, currents, ice information, wave height (sea condition), gulf stream, swell condition, and tropical storm information.

The forecasts can be billed in a per-download arrangement or monthly subscription services are available. For frequent users of weather services, monthly subscriptions allow users to download one forecast per day at a discounted rate.

Globe SatMonitor

Globe SatMonitor is a FREE service that offers the user a flexible web-based tool to manage the flow of satellite traffic and to monitor their ship's day-to-day message usage in real time. The application is secure with heightened password protection and is accessible from any internet enabled computer.

GlobeLocator Gold

GlobeLocator Gold provides fleet operators the ability to visually track ship's positions and current weather conditions using a simple all-in-one interface, accessible from any Internet enabled computer.

Click on any vessel to display the ship's name, call sign, exact latitude & longitude, heading, speed and date & time. Show ship movement history for up to 15 days, zoom in to display extremely detailed nautical charts and turn on or off weather overlays.

Managers can add value by providing partial access to the website for owners to view only their ships. The position information can only be accessed through Globe Wireless' secure servers using an encrypted password given only to appointed ship managers.

GlobeAlert

GlobeAlert is much more than just a means to comply with basic ISPS requirements. The system is configured to use multiple communication paths. It includes the unique geofence security option, and can monitor access to sensitive areas of the ship. The system is highly configurable and will support ship owners/managers in meeting the IMO and ISPS requirements while also allowing for safe and efficient operations.

Globe Access Protocol (GAP)

In order to take advantage of computer based technologies, ship operators must continually maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot vessel based systems. In addition to this, databases must be synced, data gathered and files run between ship and shore. By default, these IT tasks are performed by untrained vessel personnel, which can prove to be costly, cumbersome and limit IT productivity. A cost effective solution to this problem is to manage these tasks using GAP, operated by trained IT professionals located onshore.

GAP provides the shore-side IT professional the ability to initiate a direct connection to a vessel over IP and subsequently control any PC on board that vessel using graphical remote desktop tools or command-line interface applications.

Globe AntiVirus

Globe AntiVirus  is the latest IT innovation for the maritime industry. Globe AntiVirus is the first and only service that provides up-to-date virus protection for shipboard computer systems.

For many years, the Globe Wireless messaging systems have been protected by dual-layer virus scanners. First, all email coming from the Internet is scanned for viruses. Next, all messages routed within the Globe Wireless servers are scanned using a separate virus detection engine. This additional scan protects customers from viruses which can travel from ship-to-ship or ship-to-shore.

Viruses can be introduced by the crew via CDs, floppy disks, or USB memory keys brought onto the ship from port. Although these infections are never intentional, they nonetheless can cause damage to critical systems which result in schedule delays, costly IT visits, and lost time. Shipping companies have tried in the past to install virus scanners on shipboard computers but found that the challenge of keeping the virus definitions up to date proved to be virtually impossible.

Globe AntiVirus solves this problem! It can be installed on any or all shipboard computers. Each day, Globe Wireless sends a virus update to the ships. These updates move along with normal ship email, and are very small - typically less than 20 kilobytes. The update is then automatically applied to all network connected computers.

Globe AntiVirus even protects stand-alone computers. Many ships have computers in the engine control room or ship's office that are not network connected. Globe AntiVirus can be installed on these computers, and the crew updates the remote PCs using a USB memory key. If updates are not applied, the crew is reminded and a report is sent to shore.
